Bo-Katan Kryze actor and The Mandalorian star Katee Sackhoff has long since been expected to return in The Mandalorian & Grogu, Star Wars‘ next movie, and she may have just subtly hinted that this will indeed be the case. After making her live-action debut as the beloved Star Wars: The Clone Wars character, Sackhoff was given a much bigger role in The Mandalorian season 3, with Bo-Katan experiencing a redemption arc that ultimately leads to her becoming the Mand’alor once more. Now that a movie based on The Mandalorian is coming, it’s been expected that she will be included.

While Sackhoff isn’t at a point where she can confirm this, she has at least provided a response that could contain a subtle hint to the fact that Bo-Katan will return. Speaking to ComicBook.com, Sackhoff responds to the question of her casting in The Mandalorian & Grogu by hilariously stating that “if I knew I wouldn’t tell you,” and “if I did tell you, they’d probably kill me.“ While this certainly speaks to the secrecy Lucasfilm maintains around projects as much as this movie, and Sackhoff does a good job maintaining the secrecy, this response is still noteworthy.
Previous actors from The Mandalorian who have been asked this same question, such as Emily Swallow (The Armorer) and Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon), have all offered a much different response than this. Typically, they insist that they have yet to receive a call for The Mandalorian & Grogu, before they express their enthusiasm at the idea of being included should it happen. Sackhoff circumvents that altogether by taking an approach that’s more mysterious than an outright “no.”

The sister of Satine Kryze, Bo-Katan allied with extremist factions of Mandalore – unwittingly dividing her people, creating opportunities for the Separatists and Darth Maul. Bo-Katan spent much of her life seeking redemption, attempting to unite the Mandalorians against the Empire, but ultimately surrendered to Moff Gideon in an attempt to save her people from a genocidal Imperial attack. In The Mandalorian era, Bo-Katan has successfully reclaimed Mandalore and become the new Man’dalore – her people’s chosen ruler.

It’s hard to imagine a scenario in which Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan isn’t included in The Mandalorian & Grogu, which means this response certainly hasn’t given away anything viewers weren’t already expecting. Sackhoff does a good job following Lucasfilm’s guide to secrecy, but also providing eager audiences with hope that her Mandalorian leader will be a part of this story in some capacity. While it’s not expected to focus on her as much as The Mandalorian season 3 did, there’s still a lot of room for her to be an important figure in this film.
Little is still known about the movie’s plot, but based on The Mandalorian season 3’s ending and new The Mandalorian & Grogu movie footage shown at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, it can be assumed that this movie will mostly follow Din Djarin and Grogu completing bounty hunting jobs to fight back against the Imperial Remnant. Though the pair lives on Nevarro and works out of Adelphi, they still have many allies present on Mandalore – such as Bo-Katan herself. Should they need the Mandalorians’ help in The Mandalorian & Grogu, there’s no doubt Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan will answer their call.
