Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 has had its streaming release date revealed, following the Kevin Costner Western’s disappointing box office run. The first part of the actor’s planned four-part epic, Horizon: An American Saga‘s box office numbers were poor, earning $34.3 million against a $50 million budget. This resulted in Chapter 2 getting pulled from its original theatrical release date of August 16, instead premiering at the Venice Film Festival on September 7. While Horizon saw success upon VOD release, the future of the franchise as a whole still remains unclear.
Now, Max has confirmed that Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 is galloping its way onto the streaming platform on Friday, August 23, following its disappointing box office performance. The release date also comes two months after the movie originally arrived in theaters, a rather fast turnaround for a film to go to streaming. Its performance on the platform could end up determining the franchise’s future, depending on how many viewers end up watching it.
