Happy Gilmore 2
will bring back the element of cameos from real-life sports figures.
Happy Gilmore 2 receives an exciting filming update from Adam Sandler, who also confirms multiple new cameos for the sequel. Sandler’s original sports comedy, released in 1996, follows a failed ice hockey player who discovers he has a hidden talent for golf and enters a tournament to save his grandmother’s house from being foreclosed. Earlier this year, the sequel Happy Gilmore 2 was officially announced with Sandler reprising his iconic role in a brand-new movie coming to Netflix.
Now, during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and in a separate interview with IndieWire, Sandler shared an exciting filming update for Happy Gilmore 2 and confirmed multiple new cameos for the sequel. Watch Sandler’s full interview on The Tonight Show below:
On The Tonight Show, Sandler said the sequel starts shooting “in a couple weeks” and confirmed that Travis Kelce will have a cameo. In a separate interview, Sandler also said that Benny Safdie, who co-directed him in Uncut Gems, is “going to have a juicy part” in Happy Gilmore 2. Read his full comments on The Tonight Show below:
We’re going to do Happy Gilmore, thank you. This is happening. We’re getting ready to shoot it in New Jersey. We start in a couple weeks. It’s good. We worked hard on the script. We didn’t want to let anybody down. People have been asking me for a long time. We’re really excited about it. We wrote our asses off. So many of the golfers are being nice and will be a part of it.
Travis has… he mentioned it, so we have a nice something for Travis. He’s gonna come by. He’s a very nice guy. You guys would love him in real life. What a big, handsome guy. Funny and cool as hell. He’s a stud and he’s so funny.
Happy Gilmore 2 Is Bringing Back A Major Element From The 1996 Film
There Will Be More Cameos
With Sandler confirming cameos from Kelce, Safdie, and real professional golfers, it seems the sequel will be bringing back a major element from the original movie. With a leading cast that included Christopher McDonald, Julie Bowen, and Carl Weathers, Happy Gilmore included several cameos from golfers and other figures from the sports world, with many of them playing themselves. This includes the professional golfers Lee Trevino and Mark Lye, but also the golf sportscaster Verne Lundquist. Happy Gilmore also featured a famous cameo from The Price Is Right host Bob Barker.

Happy Gilmore 2: 4 Actors Adam Sandler Must Bring Back For The Sequel
With Adam Sandler teasing the possibility of a Happy Gilmore 2 in development, there are some brilliant characters who deserve to be in the sequel.
With more major cameos on the way, the sequel is set to bring back this element from the original movie. There is perhaps no more famous figure in the sports world right now than Kelce, considering his highly-publicized relationship with Taylor Swift and the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl LVIII victory. Though he makes his acting debut in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming horror series Grotesquerie, Kelce will likely cameo as himself in Happy Gilmore 2, considering how the first film used its celebrity cameos. He’s also an avid golfer during the NFL offseason, having participated in several celebrity tournaments.
Though Happy Gilmore features an absurd premise, its cameos from real golfers and sportscasters helped it feel somewhat grounded in reality and the sports world. It seems that with a cameo from Kelce and others, the sequel should be able to accomplish that same sense of verisimilitude with the world of an absurd sports comedy. Though it’s unclear how he will fit into the sequel’s story, Kelce can be counted among the major cameos confirmed for Happy Gilmore 2.
